THE PEACE OF GOD

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6,7 NIV. 

Picture in your mind, a sentry, a Marine, standing guard to protect an area from unauthorized people or forces, who might try to enter to do harm.

That is the same idea here in this verse. When we obey this scripture by bringing our request to God with thanksgiving, His Peace will stand guard over our hearts and our minds to keep out fear and doubt. We can have peace, knowing that God will keep His part of the bargain if we trust Him to act on our behalf.
